Eagle Island
My favorite destination in Casco Bay is Admiral Pearys
Eagle Island. Daily excursions to the Island (June-September) depart
from the waterfront a few hundred yards from our storefront. Peary
bought the island in 1877 after graduating from Bowdoin College.
In 1904, he built a wonderful house on its rocky promontory. The
house, now a State Park, is wonderfully preserved and the views
of the bay are breathtaking. I require anyone visiting me over the
summer to make this trip so I can have an excuse to go along.--
